Abuja – The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Rev. Yakubu Pam has said that the commission would continue to discharge its responsibility creditably and ensure seamless pilgrimage exercise for Nigerian Christians.
Pam gave the assurances on Wednesday in Abuja when he received an award of excellence from an organization, Making Life Better Care Foundation for Better Tomorrow.
He said that the commission was mandated to organise pilgrimage to Israel, Jordan, Rome, Greece and all Christian holy sites around the world.
Pam recalled that in spite of the COVID-19 lockdown, the commission was able to convey pilgrims to Jordan in 2020.
“We took our pilgrims to the Kingdom of Jordan and we recorded zero abscondment,” he added.
According to him, the first batch of pilgrims who travelled to Israel and Jordan on June 16, are expected back to the country on Thursday.
He said that the pilgrims were from the FCT and Bayelsa.
“The flag off ceremony was a huge success and we are expecting the first batch of pilgrims tomorrow 23rd June, 2022,” he said.
He thanked the foundation for honouring him and pledged to do more in the service of the country.
The NCPC helmsman urged Nigerians to live together in peace and harmony not minding the differences in their religion.
“Let us all be united in purpose, unity and oneness is all we need to move this country forward, ” he said.
Earlier, President of the foundation, Hajiya Aishata Abubakar, said the award was in recognition of the NCPC boss tireless crusade for peace and unity of the country.
“You have indeed touched lives through peace- keeping and you have used your office to better the lives of so many Nigerians,” she added.
Abubakar urged the executive secretary not to relent in his effort to touch more lives and move the country forward. (NAN/vitalnewsngr.com)
