Expectant and breastfeeding mothers in the country have been advised to always access available medical care in health facilities before, during, and after childbirth to reduce complications.

Wife of the Kogi State governor, Hajia Sefinat Ododo, made the call when she visited the Specialist Hospital, Lokoja.

Represented by Wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs Margaret Oyibo, the governor’s wife said it was important for the expectant mothers to access ante natal care as well as post natal care to ensure their wellbeing and that of their babies.

Hajia Sefinat restated the dedication of Governor Ododo’s administration to improving health indices across the state and enjoined women to avail themselves of the various health programmes and initiatives, including the Kogi state Health insurance scheme aimed at ensuring increased access to healthcare.

While donating food items, cash and clothing to a mother, Halirat Isah, with a preterm birth of twins, Wife of the Governor stressed that she would continue to extend hands of fellowship to vulnerable persons across the state.
