The Lagos State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to the policy of ensuring no child is left behind in the scheme of things under the present administration of Governor Babajide Olusola Sanwo-Olu.
This assurance was given by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Youth and Social Development, Mrs Toyin Oke-Osanyintolu in her address at one-day Stakeholders Meeting With MDAs And NGOs On “Handling Children Issues In Lagos State” held organised by the Ministry at Correctional Centre for Boys,Yaba.
She said : “Today we are gathered to reaffirm our commitment to addressing the welfare and wellbeing of our children, a responsibility that is both urgent and vital.
‘The wellbeing of our children is a reflection of the health of our society.”
“As stakeholders, we have a significant role to play in addressing these issues.
“We must ensure that every child in Lagos State has access to quality education, health care and protection from violence and exploitation.
“Our policies and programs must prioritise children’s needs and invest in initiatives that uphold their rights and wellbeing”, she added.”
Earlier in her opening remarks, Director, Child Development Department of the ministry, Mrs Bukayo Odukoya, represented by Deputy Director, Mrs Adenike Obilana,stated that the best interest of every child in the State is taken into consideration in every programme of the Ministry.
On his part, Chairman, Association of Orphanages and Home Operators of Nigeria, Lagos State Chapter, Mr D.S.Dosunmu commended the ministry for the programme and urged the State Government to pay more attention to issues affecting Home Operators in their different domains across the state.
