Lokoja – The Commissioner of Police in Kogi State , Edward Egbuka has presented cheques worth N98 million to the families of 14 police officers that died while in active service.
A statement issued by the spokesman of the state police command, SP William Aya said Egbuka presented the cheques to the beneficiaries in Lokoja on Thursday.
Aya quoted Egbuka as saying that the gesture was part of the Inspector-General of Police’s “Family welfare Insurance” scheme.
According to Egbuka, the gesture is aimed at improving the welfare of the families of the deceased police officers and also to boost the morale of serving officers who are in active service.
He appreciated the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Baba Usman, for assisting in reducing the hardship faced by the families of the deceased police officers.
He urged the beneficiaries to make judicious use of the money for t betterment of the live of their family members.
The beneficiaries, appreciated the IGP for coming to their aid, promising to make good use of the the money. (vitalnewsngr.com)
