The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Kogi State Chapter, has condemned the brutal killing of Ayo Ayepeku, a Lokoja-based Photojournalist by one Oluwapelumi Adebayo who is now on the run.
The NYCN made the condemnation in a statement obtained by Vital News on Thursday.
The NYCN demanded immediate arrest of the murder suspect, Oluwapelumi Adebayo to enable him to face justice.
The statement was issued by Owoniyi Olasunkanmi,
Public Relations officer on behalf of Comrade Abdulrahaman Abdulmumin Enesi, the newly elected Chairman of NYCN in the state.
The council extended its deepest condolences to the family of the victim and promised to stand by them at this period of grief.
“The brutal murder of your loved one, a talented young photographer, has sent shockwaves throughout our community, Kogi State.
“We condemn, in the strongest possible terms, the heinous act that led to Ayo’s untimely death.
“The circumstances surrounding his murder, allegedly at the hands of Oluwapelumi Adebayo, a correctional officer, are particularly disturbing.
“We have interfaced with the Kogi State Police headquarter, where the chairman elect, accompany the police to the scene for evidence of the crime committed.
“The police have assured us of putting in their best to bring the perpetrator to book,” the statement said.

The NYCN urged lovers of Ayo Ayepeku to remain calm, as the Nigeria police are working assiduously to ensure that justice prevail.
“To anyone harbouring or aiding the suspect, we warn that Kogi State youths will not take this lightly.
“We expect full cooperation from the public in bringing the perpetrator to justice.
“We stand in solidarity with the family and friends of Ayo Aiyepeku, and we will continue to push for justice until the perpetrator is brought to book,” the statement said.
