Lokoja – The 2023 Press Week of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Kogi State Council, will kick off on Friday, August 11 with a Jumat service and followed by a church service on Sunday, August 13.
The Chairman of the state council of NUJ, Comrade Adeiza Momojimoh announced this at a press conference in Lokoja on Tuesday.
He said the religious activities will be followed by a road walk exercise on Monday, August 14, saying that the road walk event was for journalists in the state to keep fit.
“Therefore, the grand finale is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, 16th August,2023 and as part of the programme there will be public presentation of a book titled: MEDIA DEVELOPMENT IN KOGI STATE (1991- 2023).
“The book is essentially put together to give an overview account of how the media industry has fared in Kogi State since its creation.
“The 324-page book will be most useful to Communications students in the tertiary institutions and it will as well be very useful to Journalists, media researchers and the reading public,” he said.
The Chairman said the
the council has carefully selected six notable Kogites for awards as part of activities lined for the Press Week .
” It is in the culture of the union to encourage individuals who are impacting positively on their various communities and people,” he said
Momohjimoh listed the awardees to include
Olu Ade of Ekinrin-Adde, Oba Olu Anthony Bamgbaiye, CON, Hon. Sanni Egidi Abdulraheem,
the member, representing Ajaokuta Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives and Alhaji Ahmed Omeiza Abdullahi OON, a retired Director, State Security Services.
Other awardees are; Engr. Isezuo Edward Jatto, a renowned Broadcast Engineer and MD/CEO Jatto FM, Okene,
Dr. Arome Salifu, Chief Executive Officer, Africa Youth Growth Foundation and Engr. Idah Daikwo of the Federal Ministry of Works, Abuja.
He said the grand finale of the 2023 Press Week will hold at Edge Drive Hotel, Lokoja, on 16th of August, 2023, beginning from 10 a:m.
“The State Governor, His Excellency, Alhaji Dr. Yahaya Adoza Bello is the distinguished guest of honour while the dynamic and colourful Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic, Associate Professor Salish Ogbo is the Chairman of the occasion,” the Chairman said.
According to him, the
Chief host is the President of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Chief Chris Isiguzo while the Honourable Commissioner for Information and Communication, Evangelist Kingsley Fanwo will serve as Co-host
