Chief Dayo Akande

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State of seeking a third term agenda by using Ahmed Usman Ododo to contest the November 11 governorship election.

Chief Dayo Akande, the Publicity Secretary of the PDP Caretaker Committee in Kogi State said Bello is contesting the election by proxy, insisting that Ododo, the governorship candidate of APC is a mere decoy.

Akande , who spoke during a chat with newsmen in Lokoja on Tuesday said the PDP and its candidate in the election, Senator Dino Melaye cannot be fooled into the third term agenda of Bello

According to Akande, the PDP has seen through the plot by Governor Bello to run a third term by proxy but the party will not fold their hands to let that happen.

He accused Bello of desperation in his bid to cling to power, saying that resorting to intimidation of opponents and arranging decamping activities will not save APC and its candidate from defeat in the election.

“It is apparent that Governor Yahaya Bello want to continue in government for another tenure and we shall work against their evil agenda.

“You can’t just bring a candidate that you can easily use to continue to mismanage the resources of Kogi State and expect us to fold our arms.

“We are going to legally take back our state through the ballot.

“We are aware of their arranged decamping activities where millions of naira are paid to people just to renounce their parties.

“Let it be known that the present government can only bribe a few to deny their party but they can’t take the love of PDP and the desire for good governance from their heart of the good people of the state,” he said.

The PDP chieftain assured members of the party and the people of Kogi state that the leaderships have gone far with consultations with critical stakeholders, urging all patriotic citizens to hit the ground running towards victory at the November 11th gubernatorial election.

His words : “We have gone round Kogi State and beyond and we have had series of interface with stakeholders of our party, community leaders, and the citizenry who are ready to work tirelessly to ensure the success of our party and our candidate, Senator Dino Melaye.

“I’m calling on everyone that loves Kogi state to join this MOVEMENT so that we can rescue our dear state from the hands of Yahaya Bello and his APC travellers.

“The journey to rescue Kogi state is a Movement and everyone must come together to ensure that we achieve victory.

“It is only Senator Dino Melaye that has been speaking and fighting for the masses, pensioners, students, workers and artisans.

“He spoke and continues to speak truth to power on their behalf always.

“Let us recall that in 2019, Yahaya Bello, Usman Ahmed Ododo and Muritala Ajaka were working together in the same party, APC while today, they are trying to deceive the people but the people know that Sen. Dino Melaye is the best person to lead the state to Cannanland.

“PDP Will salvage the bad situation in Kogi state.

“As a party, we call on the electoral umpire, INEC to ensure that results are transmitted electronically from the polling units directly to the INEC server.

“We also demand a level playing field in the conduct of the November 11th governorship election.

“We are not asking for favours, we are only asking INEC to do their job. PDP will be the Ultimate winner.

“We call for a platform on which we can have a robust National debate.

“The era of violence and political jamboree is over. Let every candidate come out in an organized manner to tell the people of Kogi State what they intend to do for and with them.

“As a party in the state, We will encourage and participate in all national debates organized by credible and reputable sources.

“Let me reiterate that We will not be intimidated by any political party.

“The PDP Caretaker committee under the leadership of Distinguished Senator Tenimu Philip Aduda who have been marching in the right direction and we assure all that with the support of the good people of Kogi State, come November 11 2023, we will deliver the state from bad governance provided by the APC.”

Akande expressed confidence that PDP will emerge victorious in the November 11 guber election.

He added that his party’s candidate, Sen. Dino Melaye enjoys the highest level of acceptance from all the ethnic groups within the state.
