Kogi Community, Families Secure Release Of 17 More Kidnap Victims Of Ayetoro-Kiri ECWA Church

The Aiyetoro Kiri Bunu Development Association (AKBDA), says it has secured the release of another 17 worshippers kidnapped by bandits from ECWA Church, Aiyetoro Kiri, on December 14, 2025

Aledare Jide Sunday, National Publicity Secretary,AKBDA, confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lokoja.

According to him, the victims’ release was secured in collaboration with their family members.

“This was not without painful partying with humongous resource,” Aledare said.

He said the 17 victims were released in two batches of three on Monday, 12th January, 2026 and 14 on Tuesday, 13th January, 2026.

Recall that over 30 worshippers were kidnapped on Sunday December 14th, from EWCA Aiyetoro Kiri Bunu.

“Concerted efforts have since then been engaged in seeing to their release.

“On January 1st, 2026, 7 people (4 alive and 3 d@ad) were released after rigorous negotiations and payment of N15million.

“The leadership of the community pressed further in their appeal and negotiations, and had three released on Monday 12th January, 2026.

“In a relentless effort, 14 people were further released yesterday, Tuesday 13th January, 2026.

“From the above, a total of 24 people have been released.

“While the association keep striving for the release of her people, it is our prayer and hope, that, they shall all safely join us,” the statement said.
