Lokoja – A Kogi State-based businessman, Ejigah Sunday James has been arrested by police for allegedly forging the signature of his business partner, Ambassador Gabriel Onoja.

The suspect who plies his trade in Ankpa-Ayingba axis of the state is into buying and selling of coal.

James was arrested on Friday in Lokoja, by police operatives from Gwarimpa Division of the Nigeria Police Force, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory.

Both Joseph and Onoja were said to be together in coal business before misunderstanding ensued.

In desperate attempts to prove a case in the law court, James allegedly prepared an agreement document of four pages dated 30th June, 2022 and allegedly inserted the signature of Onoja into it.

It was in the light of this that policemen from Gwarimpa division got him arrested at a court premises on Friday in Lokoja.

His arrested was effected in collaboration with the Kogi state police command.

Reacting, Onoja said he did not append his signature on any agreement document between him and James.

He explained that when the suspect approached him to sign, he declined.

For obvious reasons, he said James still went ahead to “forged” his signature and inserted it into the agreement document.

“Ejigah Sunday James did the agreement document and asked me to sign but I refused and he went ahead and criminally signed my signature” he stated.

He added that the accused even included the name of his wife as witness in the purported agreement without her consent.

Effort to reach James for his reaction was abortive as text message sent to him through his cell phone delivered but no response. (vitalnewsngr.com)
