Lokoja – A gubernatorial aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kogi State, Dr Sanusi Ohiare has promised to make education free and compulsory education for all girls if elected the state governor.
Ohiare stated this on Wednesday in Lokoja while featuring on a Media Parley organised by the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).
He said qualitative education will be given the utmost priority towards industrialisation of Kogi State under his tenure
Ohiare said he will also set up an agency to be called; Kogi Works to harness youths potentials and create jobs and wealth for the teeming youths.
On the poor power supply situation in the state, theaspirant said as a former Executive Director, Rural Electrification Agency, he would bring his experience to bear by completing the ongoing installation of solar hybrids mini grids across the state.
He promised to sustain partnership with the Federal Government and the private sector to bring back Ajaokuta Steel Company back to stream, complete dredging of the River Niger and Benue to create an inland port as well as build an airport .
Ohiare restated his commitment to reduce brain drain in the health sector, give full autonomy to local government councils, introduce social welfare package for the aged and People Living with Disabilities, and give agriculture the attention it deserves to ensure food sufficiency and security in the tate.
He appealed to delegates to the party’s State Congress to vote for him to enable him his laudable programmes and policies for the citizens
Earlier, the State Chairman of NUJ, Comrade Adeiza Momohjimoh said the media parley was organised in line with the constitutional mandate of the NUJ.
He said the parley is to afford aspirants the opportunity to tell the people what they intend to offer if elected.
Momohjimoh then charged all aspirants to put the interest of the people above personal interest when voted into office and be accountable to those who voted them into office .
