The Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, will on Monday, September 30, 2024 swear in 87 newly appointed Senior Advocates of Nigeria (SANs).
This event, which marks her first major assignment as CJN, will take place in the main courtroom of the Supreme Court and will form part of the activities heralding the 2024/2025 legal year.
Director of Information and Public Relations of the Supreme Court, Dr. Akande Festus, said the event will follow the longstanding tradition of the court.
“During the special court session, the CJN will deliver a State of the Judiciary address, reflecting on the 2023/2024 legal year and assessing the performance of both the Supreme Court and the broader Nigerian Judiciary.
” In addition, key figures from the justice sector, including the Attorney – General of the Federation and the Chairman of the Body of Senior Advocates of Nigeria (BOSAN), will also deliver speeches concerning the state of the nation’s justice system.
“The President of the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA) will also be among those addressing the gathering,” the statement said.
This event coincides with the formal end of the Supreme Court’s annual vacation, which began on July 22, 2024, and the resumption of court sittings on September 23, 2024.
All programmes are scheduled to begin at 10 a.m., in accordance with the Court’s tradition. (vitalnewsngr.com)
