The Speaker of the Kebbi State House of Assembly, Hon. Muhammad Zuru, is dead.
Zuru passed away Monday night at a hospital in Egypt, where he had been undergoing treatment for an undisclosed illness.
Before his passing, he represented the Zuru Constituency in the state assembly and was widely seen as a prominent figure in the legislature.
The governor’s aide on Communication and Strategy, Idris Zuru, confirmed the death of the Speaker, describing the loss as shocking.
“The death of the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Muhammad Usman Zuru, came to us as a rude shock. It is a painful loss not only to Kebbi State but to the entire nation,” Idris Zuru said.
He added that more information would be released by the government.
“We are still gathering full details surrounding his passing.
“The government will make an official statement and announce burial arrangements in consultation with the family,” Zuru stated.
