A Junior Secondary School 3 (JSS3) student has beaten a teacher to death in Benue State.
The student, 16-year-old Friday Ogamude, allegedly beat his teacher to death during a confrontation over a seized school cap.
The incident happened on Thursday, July 10, 2025, in Oju Local Government Area of Benue State.
According to security analyst, Zagazola Makama, the suspect, Friday Ogamude, a student of UBE Oju Centre, confronted his teacher, Mr. Oyibe Oyibe, aged 35, over a cap the teacher had confiscated since May 2025.
The confrontation quickly escalated when the student allegedly struck the teacher during a heated exchange.
The teacher reportedly slumped on the spot.
He was immediately rushed to Amara Hospital, Oju, where he was confirmed dead by a medical doctor.
The body of the deceased had been photographed and deposited at the morgue of the General Hospital, Oju, for autopsy.
When contacted, police said the suspect has been arrested.
The command condemned the act and assured the public that justice will be served.
Police added that investigations into the incident are ongoing.
