INEC To Present Certificate Of Return To Senators-elect, House Of Reps Member-elect March 7, 8

Abuja – The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) says Certificates of Return will be presented to Senators-elect on Tuesday March 7 while members of House of Representatives-elect will receive theirs on Wednesday, March 8.

The Chairman of INEC, Professor Mahmood Yakub disclosed this in Abuja in Saturday during a meeting with state Resident Electoral Commissioners.

He said the presentation of the certificates will at the National Collation Centre (the International Conference Centre), Abuja.

For effective crowd management, Yakub said each Senator/Member-elect will be allowed to be accompanied by a maximum of two guests.

“The comprehensive list of all members-elect will be uploaded to the Commission’s website shortly,” he said.

He, however said that in last Saturday’s elections, winners have been declared for 423 national legislative seats while supplementary elections will be held in remaining 46 constituencies on March 11.

“In the Senate, 98 out of 109 seats have been declared.

“So far, seven political parties have won senatorial seats while in the House of Representatives, 325 out of 360 seats have been won by eight political parties.

“In terms of party representation, this is the most diverse national assembly since 1999 as can be seen from the tabular summary below,” he said.

According to him, the APC won 57 senatorial seats and 162 House of Representatives seats while the PDP won 29 senate seats and 102 house of representatives positions.

Others are Labour Party, sux senate seats and 34 house of representatives position, APGA, one senate seat and four house of representatives seats, NNPP, two senate seats and 18 house of representatives seats,SDP, two senate seats and two House of Representatives seats while the YPP won one seat and one House of Representatives seat .
