Lokoja – Kogi State Commissioner of Police, Akeem Yusuf, on Wednesday presented cheques worth N51,066,945 .34k to the families of 13 police officers that died in active service.
Yusuf presented the cheques on behalf of the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba at the state police headquarters in Lokoja.
A statement in Lokoja on Wednesday by the spokesman of the state police command, SP William Aya confirmed the presentation of the cheques.
Aya said the Commissioner while speaking at the event described the loss of the deceased personnel as unfortunate and painful.
He disclosed that the money was part of the Group Life Assurance scheme for families of late Police officers.
Yusuf urged the beneficiaries not to misuse the money but to make judicious use of it for the betterment of their families.
