The National Hajj Commission of Nigeria ( NAHCON) says all intending pilgrims to this year’s hajj will have to pay additional N1,918,032.91 before they can fulfil their dream of participating in the hajj exercise.
The affected intending pilgrims numbering 48,414 have been directed by NAHCON to pay the balance latest by 11:59 pm of 28th March 2024.
Fatima Sanda Usara, Assistant Director, Public Affairs, NAHCON, in a statement on 24th March , 2024, said the additional payment was arrived at based on the current exchange rate of dollar to naira.
She, however, explained that the payment of the extra N1,918,032.91 only affects the 48,414 intending pilgrims who had earlier completed payment of N4.5million to the commission and are duly registered to participate in this year’s hajj exercise.
“Intending pilgrims that still wish to participate in the 2024 Hajj are by this release advised to proceed and pay a balance of N1,918,032.91 latest by 11:59 pm of 28th March 2024.
“The Commission will shut down its system by 29th March and no other payment would be accommodated after.
“Affected pilgrims are advised to visit their respective state pilgrims boards to confirm their status.

“All categories are to pay within the same deadline.
“While the Commission regrets the short notice, it has become inevitable due to Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah’s stern warning to Nigeria regarding the delay in adhering to the Hajj arrangement framework,” the statement explained.
NAHCON said those who cannot meet up with the payment of the balance are free to withdraw their registration for the 2024 Hajj.
