Gunmen have kidnapped Mrs Gloria Izonfuo, the Federal Commissioner representing Bayelsa State in the National Population Commission (NPC).

She was kidnapped late Sunday evening at the Ogbakiri junction on the East-West Road in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The Police Public Relations Officer, Rivers State Command, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the incident on Monday.

Izonfuo was travelling to Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, from a trip to Brass Local Government Area of Bayelsa State when the armed men struck at about 6pm.

She retired as Head of the Bayelsa Civil Service before her current appointment.

The kidnappers were said to have intercepted her vehicle and whisked her away alongside her driver and maid to an unknown place.

Meanwhile, a source said the gunmen have demanded N500million ransom for their release.

Grace Iringe-Koko, the PPRO said the Commissioner of Police had directed the command’s tactical teams to swing into action and rescue the NPC Federal Commissioner and other victims.(vitalnewsngr.com)
