Gunmen Invade Church In Kogi, Kill 2, Injure 3 Others

Lokoja – Unknown gunmen on Sunday invaded the Celestial Church of God, Jesus Blood parish, Felele, Lokoja, Kogi State, killing two persons and injuring threes.

The Kogi State Police confirmed the incident on Monday , saying that attacked church is located behind the NNPC Mega Station at Felele area of the city.

The state Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), William Aya said the gunmen suspected to be hoodlums invaded the Church and started shooting sporadically at the worshippers.

“It was a distress call that the Divisional Police Officer of B Division Felele received that hoodlums invaded a Celestial Church behind NNPC mega station and they began shooting.

“Two people were confirmed dead in the hospital, while three are receiving treatment.

“The Commissioner of Police has deployed our operatives, and ordered the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of investigation, to commence investigation to unravel the cause of the attack with a view to arrest the perpetuators,” he said.

However, sources , living close to the church said the fully armed hoodlums shot directly at the worshippers, killing two people, while three others sustained serious injuries.

“When they entered, they started shooting at every one outside the church. I now went and hid inside a cassava farm where the leaves were soaked.

“What I saw yesterday was like an action film in a movie. Kogi is no longer safe, ” a source said

Those who sustained injuries were rushed to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Lokoja where they are currently receiving treatment.(vitalnewsngr.com)
