Gunmen have attacked Government Secondary School, Olowa, Dekina Local Government Area of Kogi State, abducting four students, the school principal and a National Examinations Council (NECO) examination official during an ongoing examination.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, at about 5:25pm when the armed attackers stormed the school premises while students were taking their NECO examinations.

Sources told Zagazola Makama that the invasion caused panic among students and staff as the gunmen moved into the school and took away the victims before escaping to an unknown location.

The abducted persons included the principal of the school, four students and a NECO ad hoc worker who was present at the examination centre.

Following the attack, security agencies launched a search operation to track down the attackers and rescue the victims.
