Group Urges Fulanis In Kogi To Live In Peace With Other Residents

The Kogi State Council of Fulani Ardos has called in its members to continue to live in peace with all other residents of the state irrespective of tribal and religious differences.

Ardo Dawda Abdullahi, the Chairman of the council in the state made the call in Lokoja on Sunday during an interview with newsmen .

Abdullahi , who made the call while briefing newsmen on the outcome of the council’s meeting held in Lokoja on Saturday, May 18, 2024 said no meaningful development can take place without peace.

He urged all fulanis to shun acts that are inimical to peace in various communities where they are residing, warning them not to take laws into their hands.

The Chairman said the state Executive Council of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN) under the leadership of Mallam Yusuf Damina has been dissolved following the expiration of its tenure.

He said preparations are being made toward the election of new officers for MACBAN in the state.

To this end, Abdullahi said a meeting of all Ardos in Kogi State was convened on Saturday, May 18, 2024, saying the was how to ensure a peaceful conduct of the election.

According to him, the Ardos after much deliberations agreed to adopt a consensus candidate for the position of the state Chairman of MACBAN.

He disclosed that Mallam Usman Babangida has been adopted to be the next Chairman of the state branch of MACBAN.

He said his adoption was to ensure peace among the rank and file of fulanis in the state, describing Babangida as youthful, vibrant, educated, well experienced and a cool headed headed person.

While congratulating Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo on his 100 days in office, Abdullahi appealed to him to treat Fulanis in the state with fairness like any other tribe.

He decried the recent spate of clashes between Fulanis and some communities in Edo State, calling on all sides to allow peace to reign.

The Chairman said many of the Fulanis involved are his members who herded their cattle to Edo State for greener pasture.

He appealed to police and other security agents in Edo State to protect fulanis in Edo State, saying they were there to pursue their legitimate business like other Nigerians residing in the state. (vitalnewsngr.com)
