The Tinubu Stakeholders Forum (TSF) has hailed what it described as President Bola Tinubu’s unwavering commitment to reforms in the health sector, saying that access to quality health would further be guaranteed more than ever before.
The group’s position is in response to the Federal Government’s recent approval of ₦32.8 billion from the Basic Health Care Provision Fund (BHCPF) to strengthen primary healthcare services across the country in the first quarter of 2025.
The TSF said this in a statement signed by its Chairman, Ahmad Sajoh and Secretary Afolabi Josiah.
According to them, the move underscores the President’s unparalleled commitment to revitalizing Nigeria’s healthcare system and ensuring equitable access to quality medical services for all citizens.
“The strategic allocation of these funds through the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), the National Primary Health Care Development Agency (NPHCDA), the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (NCDC), and the National Emergency Medical Services and Ambulance System (NEMSAS) is a reflection of the administration’s deliberate and structured approach to healthcare reform.
“Under the leadership of the Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare, Prof. Ali Pate, this initiative further cements the administration’s resolve to strengthen health security, prevent disease outbreaks, and enhance emergency medical response nationwide.
“We acknowledge that over the past 18 months, the health sector has witnessed unprecedented transformation, with BHCPF-supported facilities now functioning at significantly higher levels than non-BHCPF facilities.
“This is a direct result of the strategic reforms implemented by the Tinubu-led administration, ensuring that primary healthcare services remain a top priority in national development.
“The revised BHCPF guidelines, endorsed during the 10th Ministerial Oversight Committee (MOC) meeting, mark another crucial step in institutionalizing equity and expanding healthcare access at the grassroots level.
“TSF acknowledges the President’s unwavering leadership in prioritizing the health sector, a sector that had long been neglected.
“His administration has consistently demonstrated an extraordinary level of commitment to healthcare financing, infrastructure development, and policy reforms, reinforcing Nigeria’s ability to respond to public health challenges effectively,” the statement said.
The group also described the renewed focus on healthcare as a testament to President Tinubu’s vision of a healthier and more prosperous Nigeria, where no citizen is left behind in accessing quality medical care.
