The Vice Chancellor of the Federal University, Oye-Ekiti (FUOYE), Prof Abayomi Sunday Fasina, has felicitated with the Pro-Chancellor/Chairman Governing Council of the institution, Distinguished Senator Victor Ndoma-Egba, as he turns 69.

Prof Fasina, in a statement issued on Saturday to congratulate Ndoma-Egba, described the Pro-Chancellor as a quintessential leader, great man of honour, valour and influence, who has contributed immeasurably to the growth of humanity, national development and societal advancement.

“As you clock 69 today, you deserve all the joy of the world for the remarkable roles you have played (and continue to play) in service to humanity, nation-building, and sustenance of democracy.

“In your sojourn in politics, which has seen you occupying various positions of authority, you have consistently maintained an untainted track record of excellence and achievements, and demonstrated exceptional leadership traits.

“Today, at FUOYE, in just about three months of your appointment as our Pro-Chancellor, we’ve begun to feel the positive impact of your headship of the Governing Council, especially with the steps you have taken towards guiding us on how to effectively manage the university’s exponential growth and ensure sustainability.

“We are indeed happy to have you as FUOYE Pro-Chancellor, as we rejoice with you on this special occasion of your birthday.

“We pray God Almighty to grant you many more years of fruitfulness, fulfilment, sound health of mind and body.

“Happy birthday, Distinguished Senator.”

Born on March 8, 1956 in Ikom, Ndoma-Egba, a former Senate Leader and ex-Board Chairman of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), represented Cross River Central Senatorial District in the Red Chamber for 12 years between 2003 and 2015, where he has the record of sponsoring the highest number of bills and making meaningful impact on the lives of his constituents.

Ndoma-Egba, an intellectual and orator, who has been a huge source of inspiration to many, was highly respected and widely acknowledged as one of the most vibrant senators while in the Senate, as a result of his robust inputs and invaluable contributions to deliberations on the floor of the legislative chamber.

Known for his commitment and dedication to the service of God, the Pro-Chancellor, a staunch Catholic, Life Bencher and avid lawn tennis player, was appointed Commissioner for Works and Transport in the Old Cross River State at the age of 27.
