FUOYE Unveils Activities For 9th Convocation Ceremony

Federal University, Oye Ekiti (FUOYE) has unveiled programme of activities for its 9th Convocation holding from February 17 to 23, 2025.

The Vice Chancellor of FUOYE, Prof. Abayomi Sunday Fasina unveiled the on behalf of the Governing Council, Congregation and Students, on the website of the institution.

According to the post, activities for the 9th Convocation will begin on Monday, February 17 with the VC’s Press Conference at Council Chamber from 11am to 1pm.

On the same day, commissioning of projects will take place at the Oye campus.

The projects to be commissioned include 1000-seater auditorium, Prof. Abayomi S. Fasina’s Conference Centre, 3 in 1 Faculty of Science Laboratory, New CBT Centre at phase III, Professorial Office Centre, School of Postgraduate Studies Complex, Faculty of Education Building, Faculty of Law Complex, Sport Complex Pavilion and Innovation Hub.

Also lined up as part of the activities is free healthcare services which will be offered for Oye Ekiti community at the palace of the Oloye of Oye Ekiti, from 11am to 12noon on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, marking Day 2 of the weeklong event.

On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, there will be free health services for the Ikole community at the palace of Elekole of Ikole Ekiti between 11am and 12noon.

Also, on the same day, the commissioning of projects will hold at the IPTS in Ayedun Ekiti.

They include Ultra-Modern Laboratory, two New Modern Lecture Halls and Sport Complex.

At Ikole Campus, projects to be commissioned on Day 3 are: Professorial Building – Faculty of Agriculture, 250-seater Lecture Theatre, 3-in-1 1,000 capacity Faculty of Agric Lab and Block of Six Classrooms donated by a member of House of Reps, Hon. Akintunde Rotimi.

The post on the university’s site indicated that the induction of engineering students in the faculty of engineering is equally scheduled to hold on February 19, 2025 by 3-5pm.

The VC’s Staff Awards of Excellence and Personality Meritorious Awards as also billed for Day 4, Thursday, February 20, 2025 from 11am to 12noon.

Also fixed for Day 4 is Edutainment and N100 billion Endowment Fundraising at the Faculty of Science Lecture Hall – 3 to 5pm.

The award of Bachelor’s Degrees, Diploma and Prizes at the 1,000-seater auditorium, Oye Campus, 11am to 12.30pm, and Jummah Service at the University Mosque, are the activities for February 21, 2025 (Day 5).

The Convocation Lecture will hold on the 6th day of the weeklong programme of events.

The lecture is to be delivered by Arc. Sonny Silva Echonu, Executive Secretary of TETFund, 9am to 12noon.

Award of Postgraduate Diplomas, Degrees and Conferment of Honorary Degrees will hold at the 1,000-seater auditorium, Oye Campus from 12noon – 1pm.

Activities for FUOYE’s 9th Convocation will be rounded off with a Thanksgiving Service on February 23, 2025 (Day 7) by 11am.

FUOYE, one of the federal universities established in 2011 by ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, has grown far ahead of its peers to become the 4th most sought-after public university according to JAMB statistics and 15th best university in Nigeria from the latest Times Higher Education ranking.

The 14-year-old university with a population of over 55,000 students has witnessed tremendously remarkable progress and monumental achievements under the dynamic and pragmatic leadership of Prof. Fasina, a distinguished professor of soil science and highly innovative administrator with great foresight, acumen and intellect.
