Residents of Osin Okete in Ilorin West Local Government Area were thrown into panic on Monday after a fire broke out at an Airtel network mast site in the community.
The blaze, which started around 1:27 pm, was said to have been ignited by a generator within the facility.
However, men of the Kwara State Fire Service, responded swiftly and stopped the fire from spreading to the mast and other vital installations.
According to the Fire Service, the situation was brought under control at exactly 2:04 pm, preventing what could have escalated into a major disaster.
The Director of the Kwara State Fire Service praised his men for their swift action while cautioning both residents and facility managers on the need to strictly observe safety rules.
“We urge the public and those managing such facilities to prioritise electrical and fuel safety, and to report emergencies promptly.
“Quick action helps reduce risks and minimise damage in situations like this,” he said.
