The Federal Government is to borrow N1.76 trillion through the sale of Treasury Bills in the third quarter of 2025 as part of its borrowing plan for 2025.
The Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) disclosed this in its Treasury Bills Issue Programme for Q3’25 just released in Abuja.
Treasury Bills are short-term debt instruments issued by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to raise funds on behalf of the federal government.
The amount represents 12.8% increase over the N1.56 trillion raised through the sale of Treasury Bills during the same period in 2024.
According to the CBN, the TB issuance began on July 2 and will ends on September 24, 2025, while settlement dates will run from July 3 to September 25, 2025.
During the three – month period, the bank will issue Treasury Bills worth N340 billion of 91-day tenor, Treasury Bills worth N230 billion of 182-day tenor and N1.19 trillion worth of Treasury Bills of 364-day tenor.
