EFCC Arrests Female Archbishop Over Congregants’ spraying Of Naira Notes On Live Cow During Church Event
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has arrested a female Archbishop, Angel Oyeghe, founder of the Faith Healing Ministry, Warri, Delta State, over alleged naira abuse, conspiracy, and suspected money laundering.

According to a statement posted on the EFCC’s X handle on Wednesday, operatives from the commission’s Benin Zonal Directorate took the cleric into custody on Tuesday, November 18, 2025.

Oyeghe’s arrest followed the circulation of a viral video showing congregants spraying naira notes on a live cow during a church event she supervised.

The commission said preliminary investigations directly linked the pastor to the incident, leading to her invitation and subsequent detention.

The EFCC confirmed that other individuals involved in the cash-spraying episode are currently being tracked.

The agency added that Oyeghe has already provided “useful statements” to investigators and will be prosecuted upon the conclusion of ongoing inquiries.

The video, which spread widely across social media platforms and was shared by the EFCC alongside screenshots, captured worshippers tossing Nigerian currency at the cow during a church programme.

This case adds to a growing list of recent arrests and prosecutions over naira mutilation, including the 2024 charges filed against socialite Cubana Chief Priest and cross-dresser Bobrisky for spraying money at public events.
