EFCC Arraigns Ex-Gov Obiano Over ₦4bln Fraud

A former Governor of Anambra State, Willie Obiano,was on Wednesday, arraigned before an Abuja Federal High Court on a nine-count charge bordering on N4billion fraud.

He was arraigned by the EFCC for allegedly committing the fraud
during his time as governor of Anambra State from March 2014 to March 2022

Obiano pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Counsel for the EFCC, Sylvanus Tahir, asked the court to remand Obiano in the custody of the EFCC.

Obiano was, however , granted an administrative bail by the court, which includes providing two sureties who are directors in civil service, own landed properties in Abuja.

Justice Ekwo adopted the administrative bail and added that Obiano remains within Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and travel documents be summited to the court.

The court also stated that the immigration be alerted that all travel documents are with the court.
