The Edo State House of Assembly has impeached the state’s deputy governor, Philip Shaibu .
He was impeached on Monday during plenary.
During the plenary session, 18 of the 20 lawmakers voted for his impeachment while one member dissented.
The impeachment followed an investigation led by a seven – man panel led by retired Justice S.A. Omonua.
The seven-man panel looked into the impeachment petition against the former deputy governor.
However, the panel in its report said the accusation of perjury against Shaibu was not sufficiently substantiated by the complainant.
It said the allegation of disclosing government official documents was found to be substantiated.
The impeachment climaxed the political rift between Shaibu and Governor Godwin Obaseki. (vitalnewsngr.com)
