Lokoja – The Kogi State Sector Command of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) said its officials will be on roads throughout the Easter holidays to ensure prompt rescue services, decongestion of traffic jams and removal of obstructions.
The sector which stated this in a statement in Lokoja said it has in line with this resolve deploy over 850 personnel, 20 patrol vehicles, bikes and tow trucks and ambulances for the special operation.
According to it, all these are aimed at enhancing it’s visibility on the roads throughout the period.
The statement said areas of enforcement by its officials will be on speeding, dangerous driving, overtaking, lane indiscipline, route violation use of phone while driving, overloading violation and seatbelt/child restraint use violations.
Other areas are passengers’ manifest violation, operation of mechanically deficient and rickety vehicles, latching and twist-locks violation and illegal use of spy number plates and other number plates.
The statement quoted the State Sector Commander, Mr Solomon Agure as enjoining motorists to drive with caution and avoid any form of carelessness or behaviours capable of endangering life on the highways.
” To this end, he confirmed that the Command has already keyed into the FRSC National HQ Operational order for 2022 Easter Special Patrol Operations from 13-20 April, 2022
“The Sector Commander, however, called on all road users to be committed to patient driving, tolerance on the road and showing of high sense of consideration to other road users.
” This is in order to eliminate crashes on our roads and guarantee the safety of one another ,” the statement said. (vitalnews)
