Three students suspected to be behind the torture and beaten of Sylvester Oromoni at Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos, have been arrested by police.
The suspects who were arrested in Lagos on Tuesday were alleged to have tortured Oromoni for his refusal to join a secret cult.
The alleged torture and beaten eventually led to the death of Oromoni on November 30.
He was a JSS 3 students of Dowen College, Lekki, Lagos.
The three students taken to the Criminal Investigative Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba , Lagos , for questioning were among five named by the victim before given up the ghost.
The suspects were accompanied by their parents and lawyers.
Mr Hakeem Odumosu, the state Commissioner of police confirmed the arrest during an interview on Channels Television.
However, Odumosu, did not reveal the identities of the arrested students but explained that they were key to the ongoing investigation into the case.
The police Commissioner said that Oromoni’s corpse will undergo postmortem examination at an undisclosed facility in Delta State.
Human rights lawyer, Mr Femi Falana (SAN), has been engaged to handle the matter by the parents of the victim.
Meanwhile, Falana has called for a coroner’s inquest to unravel the circumstances surrounding death of Oromoni.
In response, the Lagos State Coroner, Justice Mojisola Dada, will on December 8 hold a preliminary meeting with Falana (SAN) on the death of the 12-year-old Sylvester Oromoni
A letter inviting Falana to the meeting was signed by the Epe District Coroner, Mr Kayode Kadiri.
The letter dated December 7, indicated that the meeting will hold at Epe.
