Abuja – A gospel artiste, Mrs Ann-Ekwy Nosike, says Christians should not lose hope in God as the country experiences perilous times.

Nosike gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), shortly after the launch of her album, “Udechukwu”, meaning, God Reigns.

According to her, when men worship God and lift His name high, it attracts divine upliftment, blessings and closer relationship with the Almighty.

“There are so many things that happen when you praise and worship God; it brings down the angels, it moves the heavens.

“The advice I have for Christians in these trying times, is for them to have hope in God because that is the only solution.

“Things are hard in the country, but we will put our hope in God, we will continue to pray knowing that one day it will be fine.”

On the title of her album, she explained that it was only when God reigned that people could overcome difficult times.

“Udechukwu means `Reign’. God is reigning, and it is only when God is reigning that all things will be okay.

“With what is happening in our country today, if God reigns in every man’s heart, I think things will be okay.

“That is my believe, and I know with this song, people will know and feel that it is God, and without him there is nothing we can achieve in life.

“We should put him first in everything we do, and he will lead us well,” Nosike said.

In his remarks, Mr Nosike Ogbuenyi, a veteran Journalist and husband to the gospel artiste, said it was necessary for Christians to worship God, to reach greater heights.

Ogbuenyi, a former Special Assistant (Media) to former FCT Minister, Bala Mohammed, praised his wife and thanked God for the release of the album.

“When you look at the song, it has a deeper meaning because when God reigns, there will be peace, unity and happiness. Nigeria presently needs the reign of God.

“So, if God is reigning over all these problems such as insecurity, kidnappings, killings, banditry and so on, afflictions will not arise.

“People will be happy and love one another irrespective of ethnicity, religious and geographical diversity.

“People will believe they are one, all of us are children of God and we are talking about God’s Reign, “Udechukwu”, He reigns everywhere.

“So God needs to reign in the hearts of all Nigerians not just on the lips with mere words, but deep in the heart.

“When God reigns in the heart, all these criminal activities, disunity and so on will vanish,” he said.

Also Oluwaseun Owoeye, Vicar, Anglican Church of the Resurrection, Abuja, said the fastest means of getting God’s attention was through worship.

“As members of the Church, we have been praying and trusting God for a day like this, and thank God because He has made it to come to pass.

“We can see that from the title of the song, Udechukwu, meaning “The Reign of God”, we are happy to be associated and identify with the Reign of God.

“This song is In line with the vision and mission of the primate of the Church of Nigeria and Anglican Communion.

NAN reports that some of her friends, Mrs Chikelu Ann and Franca Onyike, who graced the event, called on Nigerians irrespective of socio-cultural, ethnic and religious differences, to imbibe the spirit of praise and worship, sacrifice, tolerance and forgiveness, in order to move Nigeria forward.
