Ahead Of 2027 Polls, Ogun East APC Endorses Governor Dapo Abiodun For Senate
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

As conversations around the 2027 general elections quietly gather momentum across Ogun State, one political reality is becoming increasingly difficult to ignore : the growing belief that Governor Dapo Abiodun is emerging as the strongest political force in the Ogun East Senatorial race.

For many, the conversation is no longer merely about ambition. It is about capacity, performance, influence, and proven leadership.

And in these areas, Governor Abiodun’s record already speaks loudly.

Politics, particularly in today’s digital era, is often shaped by noise, propaganda, and coordinated social media attacks.

Social media platforms have become battlefields where perception is manipulated daily.

Yet beyond the noise, governance leaves visible evidence — roads constructed, industries attracted, schools rehabilitated, healthcare facilities upgraded, and economic opportunities created.

This is where Governor Abiodun becomes difficult to dismiss.

Since assuming office in 2019, Governor Abiodun has steadily built a governance profile anchored on infrastructure renewal, economic expansion, industrial growth, and social intervention.

Across Ogun State, several abandoned or deteriorating roads have been reconstructed, while strategic economic corridors connecting Ogun East to other parts of the state have received significant attention to ensure state wide industrialization.

From township roads to rural connectivity projects, this administration has aggressively pursued infrastructure development with a direct impact on commerce and mobility.

But perhaps more importantly, Ogun State has strengthened its position as Nigeria’s industrial capital under Abiodun’s watch.

At a time when many states struggle to attract meaningful investment, Ogun has continued to witness industrial expansion driven by investor-friendly policies, stable governance, and deliberate economic planning.

Manufacturing giants, logistics companies, and private investors continue to view the state as one of Nigeria’s most viable economic destinations.

This, did not happen by accident.

Unlike many politicians whose experience is limited to public office, Dapo Abiodun came into government with extensive private-sector exposure.

That business background, explains his emphasis on economic sustainability, industrialization, power generation, and ease of doing business.

The Dapo Abiodun-led administration’s recent focus on independent power initiatives and energy reforms has further reinforced the perception of a leader thinking beyond conventional governance models.

Beyond the economy, the administration has also pushed interventions in education, healthcare, youth empowerment, and social welfare.

Across the state, schools have been renovated, healthcare centres upgraded, and empowerment programmes introduced for artisans, traders, market women, and young entrepreneurs.

These are the kinds of grassroots realities political campaigns are built upon.

These achievements have remain major headaches to critics of the governor because their sponsors have nothing tangible to show for the years they occupied the same office.

But, the aggressively negative narratives push by the opposition cannot erase the performance of the last seven years.

They are visible to all lovers of progress to see.

This is why conversations around Ogun East in 2027 should not elicit any debate.

As a politically significant and economically sensitive zone, Ogun East requires representation with experience, maturity, national reach, and strong institutional relationships.

Abiodun’s years as governor and as the Chairman of the Southern Governors’ Forum (SGF) have equipped him with deep knowledge of public finance, federal engagement, economic policy, and political negotiation.

These are assets that would give Ogun East stronger visibility and influence at the National Assembly.

More importantly, Governor Abiodun’s calm and measured leadership style distinguishes him in an era where aggressive populism often overshadows competence.

Even, the governor’s political opponents privately acknowledge one reality : he has remained one of the most politically stable leaders Ogun State has produced in recent years.

His seven years in charge have been among the most peaceful period in the history of the state, unlike the rain of some past governors who became emperors and turned the state into their personal fiefdom.

As 2027 gradually approaches, the political conversation will inevitably intensify.

Propaganda will increase. Alliances will shift. Ambitions will surface openly.

But when the noise settles, the central question may simply become this : who possesses the experience, performance record, political network, and governance capacity to effectively represent Ogun East at the national level?

Increasingly, many believe the answer is already taking shape.
