A Federal High Court in Abuja has on stopped the Central Bank of Nigeria from further release of monthly financial allocations to Rivers State.
The court, presided over by Justice Joyce Abbdulmalik, gave the order on Wednesday.
The Judge held that the 2024 Rivers State Budget passed by a four-member Rivers House of Assembly in December 2023 contravened the provisions of the 1999 Constitution.
She described the withdrawal and disbursement of funds from the budget as unconstitutional.
Justice Abdulmalik consequently directed the Office of the Accountant- General, CBN, Zenith Bank and Access Bank from allowing the Rivers State any access to the Consolidated Revenue Account. (vitalsnewsngr.com)
