Bello Mourns Late Ex-COAS, Chris Alli, Says He Lived Patriotic, Exemplary Life

Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has expressed his shock and deep sadness over the death of a former Chief Of Army Staff, Major – General Mohammed Chris Alli.

Bello, stated this on Wednesday in Lokoja in a condolence message released to media houses by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogu Mohammed.

Bello said the death of Ali, was shocking because the late Army Officer sent a congratulatory message to him and the government of Kogi State on the successful conduct of the November 11, 2023 governorship election.

According to Bello , Alli issued the congratulatory message on behalf of Ohiku-Egbira Descendants Union’s (OEDU) Board of Trustees.

The late Major – General Mohammed Chris Alli was in Koton Karfe, Kogi State on December 1, 1944.

Alli was a former Chief of Army Staff and military administrator of Plateau State.

Ali also served as the Director of Military Intelligence (DMI) before his elevation to Chief of Army Staff, earning respect as a dedicated officer.

Bello in the condolence message, extended his heartfelt condolences to the immediate family, friends, and colleagues of the later former Chief of Army Staff.

He described him as one of the patriotic Nigerians who risked his life in the defense of Nigeria’s territorial integrity.

The governor acknowledged Alli as a quintessential Army General whose impeccable passion for peace, development, and progress of Nigeria is unmatched by others.

“I condole with the family of Major-General Chris Alli and the Nigerian Army over the sad loss of the former Chief of Army Staff.

“Alli served his country with honor, uncommon patriotism, and retired meritoriously.

“May the Almighty God rest his soul and grant his family the fortitude to bear the huge void,” the Governor said.

He described the late former Chief of Army Staff as a man with an unquenchable taste for the growth and development of Kogi State and Nigeria in general.

He prayed for the peaceful repose of Ali’s soul and urged the family to take solace in his exemplary and patriotic life he lived while alive.
