Lokoja – Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State has approved the appointment of Mr Yahaya Ade Ismail as Commissioner for Special Duties.

The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Mrs Mrs Ayoade Folashade Arike, announced this in a statement in Lokoja on Monday.

The appointment is with immediate effect according to Ayoade.

The new appointee, Yahaya Ade Ismail, had previously served as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Water Resources.

Yahaya Ade Ismail was also the one initially tipped few days ago by Governor Bello to fill the vacant position of the Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) but has to be dropped and replaced due to power play within the Kogi State chapter of the APC.

He was consequently replaced with Hon. Duro Meseko, a veteran journalist and former member of the House of Representatives who has since been sworn in by the national Chairman of the APC, Professor Abdullahi Ganduje.

Political observers in the state see the appointment of Yahaya Ade Ismail as a form of strategy by Governor Bello to ensure cohesion in the party ahead the November 11 governorship election in the state.

However, the SSG, in the statement said the appointment of Yahaya Ade Ismail ” underscores Governor Bello’s dedication to recognizing exceptional individuals who have demonstrated unwavering commitment and service to our beloved State.”

According to her, the new appointee has consistently shown outstanding dedication and an impressive track record of service.

“His deep-rooted commitment to the progress of Kogi State has earned him this esteemed recognition.

” It is important to note that the appointment of Yahaya Ade Ismail as Commissioner for Special Duties is currently pending confirmation by the State House of Assembly.

“This process aligns with established procedures, ensuring that the selection is carried out in a transparent and accountable manner.

“The Governor firmly believes that Yahaya Ade Ismail’s extensive experience and insights will greatly contribute to the advancement of our State’s development objectives,” the statement said . (vitalnewsngr.com)
