Minna – The Village Head of Mulo in Mashegu Local Government Area of Niger State, Mallam Usman Garba, has been killed by bandits.

The traditional ruler was shot dead after he was kidnapped alongside three other members of his community.

The Niger State Commissioner of Internal Security and Humanitarian Affairs, Emmanuel Umar, disclosed this at a security briefing on Friday.

Umar said even though the rate of attacks had reduced in the state, there were still threats and pockets of attacks in some communities in Mashegu, Mariga and Kontagora LGAs.

He said Mashegu in particular had witnessed a series of attacks in the last two weeks, noting that the killing of the traditional ruler of Malo was the height of the recent attacks.

Umar noted that Gov Abubakar Sani Bello had directed the security agencies to go after the attackers and flush out the terrorists and eradicate insecurity in the affected LGAs.

The commissioner assured the residents of the state of peaceful Christmas and New Year celebrations, explaining that security surveillance would be increased to curb the attacks. ( Daily Trust)
