The remodeling of the school in all facets into international standards is almost completed as at Tuesday, March 18th.

All is almost set for the commissioning of the landmark projects by the Governor of Edo State, Mr. Monday Okpebholo, on April 6th, 2026

Speaking to newsmen during the guided tour of these facilities yesterday, the Principal of the Senior Secondary school, Mrs Adam Obetaru-Jato, described the transformation being experienced in the school as unprecedented.

She noted that what the members of the Achievers, Class of ’91, led by Mr. Peter Dunia, are doing had never being seen in the history of the college since its inception.

Her words : “It is a marvellous thing that is going on here right now because when I came here in 2024 the school was in shambles, there was no building standing, there was no roof so when it rains we have nowhere to go.

“The forest was all over and I was scared even as the Principal.

“So, this project coming in now at this time transforming the place into this glorious institution, our hopes are high, we are excited and we are looking forward to the commissioning and praying that God bless all those who have contributed to this immense renovation exercise taking place here.

“With all my heart, I say a very big thank you on behalf of myself, the staff and entire students of Auchi College.

“We are deeply grateful for all they have done.

“Thank you all the members of the set of Great Achievers, Class of 91’. May God continue to bless you Amen.”

In his speech, the Project Engineer, Mr. Kenneth Asekome, recalled the terrible state of the College when he visited for the first time in 2024.

He said : ” When Mr. Dunia decided to pay a visit to the school after so many years, it was after that private visit that he took up the challenge to give his Alma mater a befitting face lift that it’s been witnessed today.

“I still remember the first day we visited the place when we were coming to inspect the project at Ogbona, we then decided to see what is going on here in the school when we got here , it was a disaster, there was nothing, even where they were staying you could see it was dilapidated and water everywhere, especially during the raining season.

“There was no building here that was standing that you could call a school

“That was what we met here and it was because of his passion and his sympathy for the school he attended that he organized his school mates so that they can carry out major renovations in the school.

“On the second day, we mobilized and commenced work here in the school and since then we have been working day and night to make sure this project is completed.

“I pray God will continue to bless them because of the work they have done in this place.

“It is rare to see it anywhere. And one thing I would advise them to do is that when they finish this project they should manage this project for some time so it can stabilize even if they are going to hand it over.

“They should manage it for sometime because if they just leave it to government it will go back to zero again I just pray that God will continue to bless all the achievers 91 set for what they have done for Auchi College.”

Earlier in his briefing on behalf of the Association of Great Achievers, Class of 91’, Auchi College, Mr. Dairo Samuel, a member of the Board of Trustees (BoT), had disclosed that the entire projects were top notch and built to international standards, especially the sports centre, considering the fact that Edo State remain one of the best in terms of sports and youths development in the country.

He stated that the entire projects embarked upon by the Set of 91, were very strategic as they were carefully selected and constructed based on national and international specifications to meet the yearnings and aspirations of both the students and staff, as well as the public within and outside the state that may wish to use the facilities.

He disclosed that the Set of 91’ decided to rescue the college following the clarion call made by their visionary leader, Mr. Peter Dunia, to come in and salvage what had become a terrible state of learning and infrastructural deficits being experienced in the school over the years.

Indigenes of the community, especially women, youths and leaders who spoke with newsmen at the project site, paid glowing tributes to the members of Achievers set of 91, for taking up the responsibility to build new infrastructures and rehabilitate the old ones to meet up with the modern day standards.

They noted that the deplorable state of the College had been of great concern to them in recent time as the students were being forced to learn under very harsh conditions, especially whenever it rains.

They added that all efforts to attract government’s attention to the state of the school proved abortive.

“We all thanked the members of the Association of Great Achievers, Class of 91’, Auchi College, led by one of our illustrious son, Mr. Peter Omoh Dunia for his visionary leadership and commitment to the growth of his community and the wellbeing of his people”, a woman leader, Mrs Grace Agatu stated.

With the remaining 10 percent of the finishing job already being accelerated, all is now set for the commissioning ceremony slated for Monday, April 6, 2026, an event billed to attract top government functionaries from Edo and other parts of the country as well as top businessmen and women, mostly in the oil and gas sector.
