Lokoja – As the presidential primary of the All Progressives Congress (APC) draws near, supporters of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello of Kogi State have held a special Islamic prayer session to aid his victory at the primary holding on May 30.
The supporters, residing in Otokiti, Shetima, Barracks,Sango and other areas of Lokoja,the state Capital,converged at the Shetima Mosque on Thursday where they recitated the whole Qur’an for the governor to emerge winner of the APC presidential Primary.
Bello’s success at the primary will give him the honour and right to contest as the Presidential candidate of his party, win the election and become the next Nigerian President.
Speaking after the prayer session and recitation of the Qur’an, the Imam of Shetima Mosque, Alh Muhammed Jamiu Abdulazeez said the prayer was to ask the Almighty Allah to intercede on behalf of Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello in his presidential ambition.
“God said call me and I will answer you. God will also answer our prayers because of the people of good luck among us.
“And as this prayer is Congregational,the Almighty Allah will grant our request so that our
son, Governor Yahaya Adoza Bello will clinch the ticket of the party and take the mantle of leadership of this country from President Muhammadu Buhari come 2023,” he said.
One of the dignitaries at the prayer event, the Commissioner for Water Resources, Hon Abdulmumuni Danga Adoke thanked the organisers for their sense of patriotism and love for the people of Kogi State.
While promising to constantly make contributions to the development of the Mosque, he enjoined other Muslims, Christians and the entire people of Nigeria to pray fervently for the success of Bello at the presidential primary because he remains the best of all aspirants.
In his own remarks,the Supervisory Councillor for Health in Lokoja Local Government Area, Mall Abdulrasheed Muhammed called on God to let Bello scale through the APC presidential primary hurdle.
“Upon transmitting from Governor Yahaya Bello to President Yahaya Bello- GYB to PYB, the people of Kogi State, irrespective of tribe and the entire country will enjoy unlimited good governance,” he said.
The Councillor thanked the Commissioner for finding time
to attend the event and also appreciated Imam Abdulazeez for hosting the recitation of the Qur’an in his Mosque.
He described the Imam as a disciplined and versatile Islamic scholar whose prayers for Governor Bello would surely be answered and receive Allah’s blessings.
