The Minister of education, Mr Tunji Alausa has commended the Kano State Government for recruiting 16,000 teachers in three years, describing the drive as one of the boldest investments in human capital by any state.

Alausa spoke in Kano during the official presentation of appointment letters to 4,900 newly recruited teachers and 3,688 facilitators for the Better Education Service Delivery for All (BESDA) programme, Cohort V.

“In some states, no single teacher has been recruited in decades.

“Here in Kano, the governor has employed 16,000 teachers in just three years.

“This is what human capital development looks like,” the minister said.

“These are investments that will produce responsible citizens who will serve Kano State, Nigeria and the world.”

He urged the new teachers to uphold professionalism, discipline and dedication in the classroom.

“You are the most important people in our society. If we have good teachers teaching Nigerian children, we will produce very good students.

“Take your time, love them, nurture them and teach them well. That is how we can derive full value from the opportunities the governor has given you,” Alausa added.

Alausa also praised Kano for allocating 32 percent of its budget to education and for ongoing investment in school infrastructure.

He inspected the Tarda Smart School in Ungogo Local Government Area and reaffirmed the federal government’s commitment to expanding technology-driven learning nationwide, saying smart schools are critical to equipping learners with 21st-century skills.

“The future of Nigeria is bright. Kano State has aligned fully with President Bola Tinubu’s development agenda, and the progress we have witnessed here demonstrates what is possible when leadership places education and people at the centre of governance,” he said.

A statement from the minister’s special adviser, Ikharo Attah, said Alausa later visited Bayero University, Kano (BUK) and commissioned the newly built Government Girls Secondary School, Dangwaro, a project aimed at expanding access to quality education for girls.

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf described the presentation as a defining moment in Kano’s education reform.

He said the employment of 4,900 permanent teachers and 3,688 BESDA facilitators reflects his administration’s determination to ensure every classroom has qualified and committed teachers.

“Education remains the cornerstone of our development agenda.

“Every child deserves the opportunity to realise his or her full potential through access to quality teaching and conducive learning environments,” Governor Yusuf said.

He thanked President Tinubu, the Federal Ministry of Education, the Minister of State for Education, Professor Suwaiba Sa’id Ahmad, and development partners for their support. (vitalnewsngr.com)
