Bauchi – The Bauchi Emirate Council on Monday suspended a former Speaker of the House of Representatives, Hon. Yakubu Dogara, from parading himself as the traditional title holder of Jakadan Bauchi.
Alhaji Saidu Ibrahim Jahun, Galadiman Bauchi announced the suspension of Yakubu at a press conference in Bauchi.
Jahun who spoke on behalf of the Emirate said Dogara was suspended for his alleged involvement in the bloody attack on Emir of Bauchi, Alhaji Rilwanu Sulaimanu Adamu and Emir of Dass, Alhaji Alhaji Usman Bilyaminu Othman, on December 31, 2021.
Both Emirs were on their way to Bogoro to grace the 21st Baba Gonto memorial lecture and book launch when they were attacked by some youths.
He said that the suspension which takes immediate effect will remain pending the final determination of the matter before the court.
Dogara is one of the suspects standing trial for the case.
The Emirate said it was disturbing that Dogara, an indigenes of Bogoro and a traditional title holder of the Bauchi Emirate was among those suspected to be behind the attack on the foremost traditional rulers.
“We reviewed the case again and expressed our dismay that one of the sons of the area, a stakeholder and our traditional title holder was mentioned as the one misleading the people and perpetrating the incident.
“More surprisingly, he did not sympathise nor show any sign of remorse towards what happened to their Royal Highnesses, the Emirs of Bauchi and Dass,” Jahun explained. (vitalnews)
