32 Killed, 23 Injured In Road Crashes In Kwara, Kogi, Ogun

No fewer than 32 persons have been confirmed dead in separate road accidents which occurred in Kwara, Kogi and Ogun States between the night of Sunday, July 5,2026 and morning of Monday, July 6, 2026.

Twenty-six persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries in the accidents.

In Kwara State, 15 persons lost their lives, while 17 others sustained varying degrees of injuries in a lone tcrash along the Ogbomoso-Oloru Road at Oko-Olowo in Ilorin South Local Government Area of Kwara State.

The fatal crash which involved a DAF truck with registration number GWL 274 XC, occurred at about 2:32 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2026 at a spot near the Muslim Cemetery in Oko-Olowo.

The truck was driven by one Nasiru Muhammed.

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), while confirming the accident said 48 male passengers were involved in the accident.

It said in a statemwnt that 15 of the occupants died on the spot, 17 sustained injuries ranging from fractures, dislocations and bruises, while 16 others escaped unhurt.

The FRSC said the injured victims were evacuated to Arewa Medical Centre and Baki Hospital for treatment, while the corpses of 15 passengers that died in the accident were handed over to their families and the Sarkin Hausawa of Oko-Olowo for burial.

The Kwara State Sector Commander if FRSC, Kabiru Babatunde Kazeem, was at the crash scene to coordinate rescue and recovery operations.

In Ogun State, 10 people died in an accident which occured at about 8:05pm of Sunday, July 5, 2026 around Saapade Bridge along the Ibadan–Lagos Expressway.

Six person were seriously injured in the accident which involved a white Sinotruk (CNHTC) truck and a white Toyota Hiace bus with registration number EKY 290 YM.

Spokesman of the Ogun State Sector Command of FRSC, Afolabi Odunsi, confirmed the accident in a statement issued on Sunday,.

Odunsi disclosed that 18 people were involved in the crash, comprising 15 adult males, two adult females and one male child.

According to the statement, 10 persons, nine adult males and one male child died in the crash, while six others, including four adult males and two adult females, sustained varying degrees of injuries.

Two adult males escaped unhurt according to Odunsi.

Also in Kogi State, seven persons were Killed and three others sustained injuries in the morning of Monday, July 6, 2026 ,when a Toyota Sienna passenger bus crashed into a truck parked at a spot in Osara on Okene-Lokoja Road.

The Toyota Sienna was travelling from Auchi to Abuja when the accident happened.

Seven occupants of the bus died instantly while three persons survived without varying degrees of injuries.

Officials of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), who promptly arrived at the scene moved the injured persons to a nearby hospital for treatment while the corpses of the dead victims are deposited at the morgue of the Federal Teaching Hospital, Lokoja.
