The Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), in Kogi State, Kingsley Temitope Ogga has distanced the party from a purported protest being planned by a grouo, ADC 10,000 Youth movement.
He described the ADC 10,000 Youth Movement that has threatened to stage a protest over alleged grievances on the forthcoming local government councils election in the state as an interloper.
Ogga insisted that the group is not known to the party in the state.
The Chairman stated these in a press statement made available to newsmen in Lokoja on Wednesday.
In the press release entitled “Disclaimer of ADC 10,000 Youth movement Kogi state chapter” , Ogga said the group was a faceless body who wanted to hide under the name of the party to cause crisis in the state.
He said the ADC is a law abiding party which follows due process in whatever it wants to do.
The statement reads in part : “The general public is Herby informed of an unauthorized group in the name of ” ADC 10,000 Youths Movement” threatening to stage a protest on behalf of African Democratic Congress party, Kogi State chapter
“We want to categorically state that the group is unknown to us as a party and has no any official locus to act in the name of the party.
“Secondly, all those who signed the press release are unknown and do not have our permission to make official comments on our behalf.
“The acclaimed group is not a member of our party and can not be member of the executives of the party at any levels as claimed.
“However, the purported ADC youth leader, whose name appeared as one of the signatories had no permission of the party to act in such manners.
“As a law abiding political party, that believes in the rule of law, we therefore, urged Kogi State Independent Electoral Commission (KOSIEC) and the general public to disregard the protest threat.”
