A veteran sports journalist and broadcaster, Ndamadu Sule is dead.

A native of Ugboloko, Bassa Local Government, Kogi State, he died on Friday, 14th November, 2025 after a brief illness.

His death marked the end of more than three decades in the profession he loved most- sport broadcast journalism, media leadership, and union service.

Renowned for his integrity, professionalism, and commitment to the development of journalism in Nigeria, Ndamadu Sule left an enduring imprint on the nation’s media landscape.

Sule began his broadcasting career in 1977 with the Broadcasting Company of Northern Nigeria (BCNN)—now the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN).

During his time at BCNN from 1977 to 1982, he honed his foundational skills in radio production, reporting, and presentation.

These early years provided him with invaluable experience in the art of storytelling and laid the groundwork for his future success in broadcast journalism.

In 1981, he transitioned into television broadcasting when he joined the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA), Kaduna.

His tenure at NTA Kaduna, which lasted until 1983, exposed him to the expanding world of television news and broadened his versatility across multiple broadcast platforms.

A major highlight of his career came when he returned fully to the Nigerian Television Authority in 1996, where he served on the sports desk as a sports news reporter and producer.

From 1996 to 2009, Sule became a familiar and respected face in Nigerian sports broadcasting.

His work combined deep sports knowledge with sharp reporting instincts, allowing him to cover major national and international sporting events.

He played a major role in producing compelling sports content, mentoring younger journalists, and contributing to NTA’s reputation as a trusted source of sports information.

Through dedication and consistent professional excellence, Sule rose through the ranks to become an Assistant Director at the NTA, a position from which he eventually retired.

His leadership, editorial judgment, and commitment to ethical journalism earned him widespread respect among colleagues and viewers alike.

Beyond his broadcasting career, Ndamadu Sule was also celebrated for his contributions to the journalism profession through the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

He had served as Chairman of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Council of the NUJ from 1991 to 1995, where he championed the welfare of journalists, promoted press freedom, and strengthened the union’s internal structures.

His tenure is remembered for fairness, transparency, and an unwavering dedication to the dignity of the profession.

Ndamadu Sule’s career reflects a lifelong devotion to public service through the media.

From radio to television, from reporting to leadership, he had remained a committed advocate of truth, professionalism, and continuous growth in Nigerian journalism.

His legacy continues to inspire both his peers and the next generation of journalists.
