Suspension Oil And Gas Sale In Naira By Dangote Refinery Will Lead To Price Increases – Fuel Marketers
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Fuel prices may go up from Monday if Dangote Refinery implements its decision to stop selling products in naira from Sunday.

Abubakar Shettima, the National President of Independent Petroleum Marketers Association of Nigeria (IPMAN), said this on Saturday.

He told journalists that the planned suspension of sale of petrol in naira by Dangote would lead to significant increase in petrol prices across the country.

“Yes, it will affect prices. Prices will go up if they begin to sell in dollar,” he said.

The IPMAN leader said the announcement of the suspension of sale of petrol in naira by Dangote came to him as a surprise on Friday.

He said he planned to convene a meeting with IPMAN National Executive Council (NEC) members on Monday to discuss the issue and its implications.

“Immediately I got the information from the mail he sent to us.

“I call my NEC members to come on Monday so that we can discuss.

“And then we have to go and see the management of Dangote so that we can sit down and discuss and see the implication.”

Shettima, however, said the decision would not affect supply of products since the refinery would still be producing.

He advised the federal government to intervene immediately and stop Dangote Refinery from implementing its decision.

Dangote Refinery announced its decision via email messages sent to some customers on Friday evening.
