Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo of Kogi State, has expressed deep sorrow over the passing of Alhaji Asiru Ijagbemi, father of the state’s Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning, who died on Sunday at the age of 95.
In his condolence message to the bereaved family, Governor Ododo noted that the late Alhaji Ijagbemi lived a fulfilled life and left behind enduring legacies that will continue to be remembered by his family and community.
“Alhaji Asiru Ijagbemi was a man of rare virtue who lived a life of fulfilment, honour and piety.
“His passing is not only a grievous loss to his immediate household, but also to the entire people of Yagba East and indeed, to the entire Kogi State,” the governor said.
Ododo noted that only a few weeks ago, he lost his own father and a priceless friend and as such, he knows what it truly means to lose a father at this time.
He stressed that while the pain is immeasurable, the comfort lies in the enduring legacy left behind by the late patriarch of the Asiru family.
The governor also recalled how he was warmly received and the prayers for him by the late Pa Asiru during his stopover at the family home of Hon. Idris Asiru on his way to Isanlu for a political engagement recently.
He further affirmed that the sterling qualities of honesty and selfless service which the late patriarch personified are evident in the worthy contributions of his children to the advancement of Kogi State, particularly through the meritorious service of the Hon. Commissioner for Finance, Budget and Economic Planning.
The governor then prayed that Almighty Allah forgives the shortcomings of the departed, grant him eternal rest in Aljanat Firdaus, and bestow upon the family the fortitude to endure the irreparable loss.
