According to him, the man was pursued by the officers after he refused to stop for a search on the road.

“Officers of the command intercepted a space bus that ran through a security checkpoint at high speed.

“The team pursued the bus and the driver, upon realizing that he was being pursued, abandoned the bus and fled into a nearby bush.

“On getting to where he abandoned the vehicle, the officers conducted a search and reportedly found the arms and ammunition inside,” he said.

Adejobi further wrote that : “A swift cordon and search was conducted on the spot, leading to the recovery of a substantial cache of arms and ammunition, which included five AK-47 rifles, eight AK-47 magazines, 283 rounds of 7.62x39mm ammunition, 62 rounds of 5.56mm ammunition and two rounds of 7.62x59mm ammunition.”

Adejobi also disclosed that preliminary investigation suggested a possible connection to a recent armed robbery at a filling station in Kabba, a town in Kogi State, which is currently under investigation.

He added that efforts are on to apprehend the fleeing man and other members of his gang.
