Death Toll From Niger Flood Disaster Rises To 115,  Many Still Missing – NSEMA

The Niger State Emergency Management Agency (NSEMA) says death toll from the flood disaster that recently ravaged Mokwa community in the state has risen to 115.

The Public Relations Officer of NSEMA, Ibrahim Hussaini, disclosed this on Friday.

Hussaini spoke on behalf of the Director-General of the agency, Ibrahim Baba Arah.

The flood disaster which was caused by a heavy downpour on Wednesday, March 28, 2025 ravaged Tiffin Maza and Anguwan Hausawa communities in Mokwa Local Government.

NSEMA had on Thursday announced the recovery of 21 corpses from the flood and declared 10 people missing.

Hussaini, however, explained that so far, the agency’s search and rescue team has recovered a total of 115 bodies.

“Contrary to what is on social media, we have recovered 115 bodies.

“The search and rescue operation is still ongoing,” Hussaini said.

NSEMA had also on Thursday stated that the flood submerged over 50 residential houses and washed away their occupants.

Hussaini, said NSEMA in collaboration with the Mokwa Local Government, local divers, and volunteers was still conducting search and rescue operations to rescue survivors and recover corpses. (vitalnewsngr.com)
