The Catholic faithful in Nigeria are set to celebrate the fourth edition of the Communications Week (ComWEEK) in the country.
This is in line with the directive of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN).
The theme, as chosen by the Holy Father, is: “Share with gentleness the hope that is in your hearts” (cf. 1 Pet 3:15-16).
According to the National Director of Social Communications at the CSN, Rev. Fr. Michael Nsikak Umoh, ComWEEK, a media literacy programme initiated by the Catholic bishops of Nigeria, is scheduled to start on Sunday, 25 May, and end on Sunday, 1 June, 2025; which is the Sunday of the World Communication Day (WCD).
The week-long celebration is expected to hold in all parishes, Catholic institutions, and pastoral units in Nigeria.
The manual to guide the activities and lessons for each day of the week will be freely made available to all persons through a website, comweeknigeria.com and the mobile app, nigeriacatholicnetwork.com.
A major highlight of the celebration will be the 2nd edition of the ComWEEK Public Lecture, scheduled to hold on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.
The primary audience of the lecture will be the media practitioners, regulators and other stake holders in the media industry.
The ComWEEK is an initiative of the Catholic Bishops Conference of Nigeria (CBCN), targeted towards media literacy for discipleship.
It is an expansion of the one-day WCD, which was established since 1967 by Pope Paul VI.
The CBCN developed the one-week programme, conscious of the important and enormous challenges of media and communications to the Church and modern society, particularly in the present digital age. (vitalnewsngr.com)
