Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on Tuesday raided the headquarters of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON) in Abuja over
allegations of fraud.
The operatives arrived NAHCON headquarters at about 11 a.m. in a white bus with a valid arrest warrant.
The raid is in connection with allegation of fraud around the N90billion allocated for the 2024 hajj operation by the federal government.
After a thorough search of the office, the EFCC operatives took away NAHCON’s spokesperson, Fatimah Usara and three other unidentified staff members.
All of them are still in the custody of EFCC as at the time of this report.
EFCC spokesperson Dele Oyewale confirmed the raid on NAHCON headquarters with a promise to provide more further details very soon.
However, it was gathered, that the arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged misappropriation of funds.
This comes after a prior raid by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), which searched NAHCON’s offices over claims of fraud around the N90 billion allocated for the 2024 Hajj.
