Abuja -. An NGO, Rest Logic Nigeria, has commenced a three-year free skills training programme for 5,000 youths across the country.

Mr Jeremiah Agada, the Executive Director of the organisation told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Abuja that the training would involve youths in rural communities.

“We will empower 5,000 Nigerians with various skills for self-reliance before the end of 2025.

“We want to bridge the unemployment gap and compliment government efforts in the area of skills development.

“This is our contribution to tackling insecurity and other vices in the country.

“It will help to tackle rural-urban drift, enhance income, and job creation among urban and rural youths on a sustainable basis,’’ Agada said.

The executive director said that the participants would be trained for one month, adding that the free skills training would cover the six geo political zones and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

According to him, the training will be on baking, graphics, make up, photography, video editing, web design and development, shoe-making, tailoring, solar and satellite installations.

Agala explained that those selected would be attached to various training centres for practical training.

“We are training 1,500 youths by April 18, as first batch beginning in the FCT.

“We are going to be supporting exceptional performances with start-up kits and we are partnering with Adashi Cooperative Society Ltd.

“Participants can get loans of up to N100, 000 after the training to start their businesses,” he added.

The executive director urged the media to create awareness on the project to attract genuine participants. (NAN/vitalnews)
